The Stun Gun Has Developed from a Cattle Prod to an Creatively Made Device
A stun gun is an extremely ingeniously made device that aids police when they need to restrain an unruly individual who fights back along with being perfect for personal protection. But where did the thought to create them come from? Read on to find out the stun guns history.
The plan originated from ranch hands about 60 years ago. In the 1940’s ranchers would use long prods to get their cattle to move where they needed them to go. Throughout the years it went through many changes to improve its effectiveness and also be used for law enforcement.
Throughout the 1970’s it was agreed upon that policemen could employ these cattle prods, or stun guns, as a type of self defense. Throughout the years a great deal of patents occurred that would permit patrolmen to take greater control of violent crowds or unruly suspects. This would authorize police to incapacitate someone instead of just sending them a small jolt.
In 1973, they designed an even better stun gun that was more effective than long cattle prods. It could be worn on a person and could also extend several inches so that application was easier and safer. Another big thing they were used for was to protect planes. If someone strived to take over a plane or begin a riot, they could employ the electricshock devices without fear of making a hole in the plane’s skin.
Now how does a stun gun work? How does it incapacitate someone? Does it make them unconscious? These electroshock devices affect the body’s neurological system which affects a person’s muscles. Simply, what it does is makes the person’s muscles temporarily not work. It uses up their energy so that the person becomes frail and can’t move. No damage comes to them when they are stunned and no injuries occur.
These weapons are less than deadly weapons and are a good type of protection and self defense. They have been around and have been employed for countless years as a kind of protection. Various models are new and enhanced, making it easy to fend yourself while officers can easily pacify a suspect.
Once used as cattle prods, stun guns are now used to protect the innocent and to safely bring in criminals.
